Bo Bichette might be headed back to free agency after the 2026 season.
Teams around MLB anticipate the New York Mets infielder opting out of his contract following the campaign, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Bichette signed a three-year, $126-million contract with the Mets this past offseason, but is able to opt out of the deal in 2026 and 2027.
The 28-year-old's first season in New York hasn't gone as hoped. He's batting just .236 with eight home runs and a .644 OPS. His batting average and OPS marks currently stand as the second worst of his career, only trailing his injury-plagued 2024 campaign when he batted .225 and carried a .598 OPS.
The Mets sit in last place in the NL East with a 31-39 record.
