Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras has joined the American League All-Star team.
Contreras replaces Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who won the fan vote to start the Midsummer Classic but dropped out to rest during the break after dealing with back issues over the last month.

Contreras is now a four-time All-Star amid a career year in his first season with the Red Sox. The 34-year-old has gone deep 20 times with 59 RBIs and a .921 OPS over 86 games after coming over from the St. Louis Cardinals in an offseason trade.
Boston will be represented by Contreras, Aroldis Chapman, and Ranger Suarez at the All-Star Game on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
