Toronto Blue Jays star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exited in the fourth inning of Sunday's 7-2 win over the Texas Rangers due to left lower back tightness, the Blue Jays announced.
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a single before departing.
"It was a little tight before the game," manager John Schneider said postgame when asked about Guerrero, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. "So, just wanted to be careful. Hopefully he's good for tomorrow."
The six-time All-Star has dealt with multiple minor ailments during what's been the worst season of his eight-year career. He's hit just nine home runs with 56 RBIs and a .695 OPS across 141 games. The 27-year-old only has one homer at Rogers Centre this year.
The Blue Jays entered the contest three games out of the AL's final wild-card spot. The regular season ends Sept. 27.
