The Milwaukee Brewers held the Los Angeles Dodgers to one run on seven hits to win Game 1 of the National League Championship Series 2-1 on Sunday at American Family Field.
The Brewers' bullpen allowed no runs and two hits after taking over for starter Jacob Misiorowski, who exited in the fifth inning after giving up five hits and three walks.
"That bullpen really showed up today," Misiorowski told Tom Verducci of Fox Sports after the game.
Milwaukee's bullpen has allowed one earned run in 23 2/3 innings this postseason.
"They're awesome. ... These guys are amazing," Misiorowski added. "They're working their butts off. It's everything I can ask for and more."
Brice Turang homered off Dodgers left-hander Tarik Skubal in the fourth to tie the game 1-1 before Luis Lara drove in Garrett Mitchell an inning later to plate the winning run. Skubal was charged with the loss after giving up two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven in five innings of work.
"These are the games we live for," Turang said of the low-scoring affair, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
The Dodgers had numerous chances to score, but they left nine runners on base and grounded into three double plays.
"I thought we had a great plan," Freddie Freeman said postgame, according to Sportsnet LA. "We executed against Misiorowski really well. Got him out before five innings was complete. We did our job there, we just didn't get the big hit tonight."
The Brewers are the 10th team in postseason history to have their first five playoff games decided by two runs or fewer, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.
Game 2 of the NLCS begins at 5 p.m. ET on Monday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto starts for the Dodgers opposite Logan Henderson for the Brewers.
