Report: Pelicans bracing for Zion to miss 4-6 weeks with hamstring injury
The New Orleans Pelicans are bracing for Zion Williamson to miss four-to-six weeks with a left hamstring strain, ESPN's Shams Charania reports, courtesy of Pelicans Film Room.
Williamson's return will be based on how he responds to rehab, but the Pelicans are unsure how long that'll take, adds Charania.
The former No. 1 overall pick was off to a solid start prior to being sidelined, averaging 22.7 points, eight boards, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks across six appearances.
New Orleans is 1-4 this season with Williamson out of the lineup.
The Pelicans are already without a number of key contributors. Starting point guard Dejounte Murray fractured his left hand in the team's season-opening win against the Chicago Bulls. Meanwhile, fellow starters CJ McCollum and Herb Jones are each out for extended periods due to injury.
However, help is on the way for the struggling club as Trey Murphy III made his season debut Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.
New Orleans sits 14th in the West with a 3-8 record.
