Pacers sign Carlisle to multi-year contract extension
The Indiana Pacers signed head coach Rick Carlisle to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Carlisle rejoined the Pacers for a second head coaching stint in June 2021. He's guided the club to a 157-171 record over the last four seasons, including playoff appearances in each of the previous two campaigns.
Indiana reached the East final in 2023-24 and its first Finals in 25 years last season.
"Since his return to the Pacers in 2021, coach Carlisle has been integral to our success, which includes leading us to consecutive Eastern Conference finals appearances and our first NBA Finals appearance in 25 years," Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.
Pritchard added, "We are thrilled to have him continue leading our team and representing our organization well into the future."
Carlisle went 181-147 during his previous go-around with the Pacers, with the team going as far as the conference finals in 2003-04.
The 65-year-old trails only Slick Leonard on the franchise's all-time wins list.
Carlisle's other head coaching stops include the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks. He won Coach of the Year honors in 2002 and guided the Mavericks to their lone NBA title in 2011.
