The Atlanta Hawks are declining forward Jonathan Kuminga's $24.3-million team option, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The decision makes Kuminga an unrestricted free agent.

Atlanta chose to move on from Kuminga just four months after acquiring him from the Golden State Warriors for center Kristaps Porzingis at the trade deadline. The 23-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists on 47.6% shooting during his 16-game tenure with the Hawks.

Joining the Hawks was supposed to be a fresh start for the Congolese forward, who demanded a trade out of Golden State in January. He had re-signed with the Warriors last summer following a protracted saga as a restricted free agent.

Kuminga was drafted seventh overall by the Warriors in 2021.
