Duke lands Wisconsin transfer Blackwell
Wisconsin standout John Blackwell is transferring to Duke, he told Jeff Goodman of Field of 68.
Blackwell entered the portal and intended to test the NBA draft this year after averaging a career-high 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this past season. He also shot 38.9% from the 3-point line.
The 6-foot-4 junior earned a third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2025-26.
Blackwell visited Duke on Monday and credited Jon Scheyer for convincing him to choose the program.
"It just felt right. ... I just connected with Coach on a different level," Blackwell said, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello. "We built a connection in these past weeks of just talking to him and him selling why Duke is the right spot for me. Me taking this visit was just confirmation on why I should be at Duke."
Blackwell was one of the best playmakers available in the portal. His commitment represents a huge splash for the Blue Devils, who are projected to lose their leading scorers - Cameron Boozer and Isaiah Evans - to the 2026 NBA Draft.
Duke reached the Elite Eight but fell short against UConn.
