5-star TE Prothro commits to Georgia
Five-star recruit Kaiden Prothro committed to Georgia, the tight end said Saturday, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
Prothro is the No. 19-ranked recruit and the No. 2-ranked tight end, according to ESPN 300. He chose the Bulldogs over Texas and Florida.
"Georgia is just that school that is just one of the top schools that are brought up when you think about college football," Prothro said last April, according to On3's Jeremy Johnson. "You will be playing the best ball on national TV. You will most definitely get to be in the spotlight every game."
Prothro has played the last three seasons at Bowdon High School in Georgia. He had a stellar junior campaign, racking up 56 receptions for 1,203 yards and 22 touchdowns in 15 contests, according to Maxpreps.com.
The Bulldogs also landed four-star athlete Tyriq Green on Saturday. Green, a Georgia native, primarily plays running back and safety.
With Prothro and Green heading to Georgia, head coach Kirby Smart has now secured commitments from 18 recruits on ESPN's 300 list. Prothro becomes the second five-star prospect to join the Bulldogs after quarterback Jared Curtis committed to Smart's team in June.
