Star freshman wide receiver Jesse Legree re-signed with Oregon State for the 2027 season, he announced Friday.

Legree held a press conference at his old high school, where he signed a contract to clarify his intentions.

"It's always some kids' dream to live out a signing day, and unfortunately I wasn't able to have mine last year, and to be able to have one this year for this contract is great," Legree told CBS Sports.

Legree is taking the college football world by storm, leading the nation in receiving yards (1,040), receiving touchdowns (14), and yards per target (16) heading into this weekend's slate of games, according to TruMedia.

Legree's 148.6 receiving yards per game lead the FBS. Heisman Trophy front-runner Jeremiah Smith sits second at 140.6. Legree has recorded 100-plus receiving yards in all seven games this season.

The Baltimore native was a three-star recruit in the 2026 class on ESPN's 300 and the No. 89-ranked wide receiver. He's quickly built a connection with transfer quarterback Braden Atkinson, who leads the country in passing yards with 2,604.

Legree praised Oregon State head coach JaMarcus Shephard. It's Shephard's first season with the program after a two-year run as Alabama's offensive coordinator.

"He's like another father to me. He always makes sure that I'm good mentally," Legree said. "He always wants to give me tips and tricks 'cause, you know, he's a wide receiver guru as a head coach. So to have somebody as a head coach with his resume and his knowledge has just been great."

Oregon State is on a five-game winning streak and leads the Pac-12 standings. The Beavers face Fresno State on Oct. 31 after their bye week.
