Adam Sandler had a specific role in mind for Travis Kelce while writing the upcoming "Happy Gilmore" sequel.

Sandler, who wrote and starred in the original 1996 sports comedy, joined the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast to discuss his new movie. Sandler explained how he originally envisioned Kelce playing the son of the titular character.

"We were talking about you playing my son while we were writing it," Sandler said. "Literally like six months ago, we were like, 'Imagine if Travis was my firstborn baby, how funny that would be.' Just a badass. But we know, football season."

Sandler didn't reveal exactly what Kelce's role will be in "Happy Gilmore 2," but he did share details about the plot.

"First of all, Travis, we're gonna have fun because the scene you're doing is with so many great golfers. It's gonna be amazing, you're gonna be funny as hell," Sandler said. "The movie itself, it just picks up from an older guy who's played golf a long time. Some stuff has gone on in his life, he's a little different. He's a bit of a mess when you meet Happy. And then we try to get his life cooking again."

Production on the movie is set to begin in early September in New Jersey.
