Adams doesn't regret trade to struggling Jets: 'Going with my gut'

Wide receiver Davante Adams isn't second-guessing his trade from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets.

"Nah, I don't live my life like that," Adams said Wednesday on "Up & Adams" when asked if he regretted the move. "You'll drive yourself crazy. Hindsight's always 20-20. So you can sit here and look at it right now and say, 'Oh, I could've maybe stayed there, would've been more comfortable, wouldn't have had to move' and all that stuff. But for me, it's about going with my gut in my life, and that's how I make my decisions. I live with them. We'll roll the dice and see what happens."

The Jets acquired Adams from the Raiders on Oct. 15 in exchange for a conditional third-round pick in the 2025 draft. The deal reunited the three-time All-Pro wideout with four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was Adams' teammate with the Green Bay Packers from 2014-21.

Adams also noted that joining the Jets wasn't a gamble given his relationship with the future Hall of Famer. While he acknowledges he and Rodgers haven't played up to their capabilities, they're still giving their full effort to put the team back on track.

The 11-year pro hasn't spoken with Rodgers about his future amid a report that the Jets intend to move on from the quarterback after the season.

"All we can do is worry about the next game," Adams said.

The addition of Adams hasn't proved to be the catalyst to changing the Jets' fortunes after a month. New York has posted a 1-4 mark since acquiring the six-time Pro Bowl wideout. He's caught 26 passes for 278 yards and one score with the Jets.

New York is in the midst of a regime change this season. The franchise dismissed head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start in his fourth season. On Tuesday the club fired general manager Joe Douglas, naming senior advisor Phil Savage as the interim GM.

"It's surprising, but it's not, just because you know the way this game goes," Adams said about Douglas' dismissal. "When games aren't being won and things don't look the way that they were intended to look, something's gotta change."

Adams noted that he had nothing but good interactions with Douglas during their brief tenure together.

After their bye week, the Jets (3-8) will play host to the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 1.
