Sunday player props: Saquon to bully Rams' defense in wintry conditions
Sunday's lineup of games features three of the top five Super Bowl favorites. The Eagles host the Rams in the afternoon, and the highly anticipated matchup between the Ravens and Bills caps off the divisional round.
Wintry weather could play a factor in both playoff games, adding a layer of complexity when making picks. Here are six player props for Sunday's games that can hit without the help of snow but are even better bets if Mother Nature decides to make a playoff appearance.
Saquon Barkley - Over 124.5 rushing yards (+125)
Saquon Barkley cooked the Rams' defense for 255 yards rushing the last time these two teams met. He's ran for over 100 yards in 10 of his past 12 games, exceeding 125 six times.
The forecast for Sunday's contest says there's a good chance for snow, giving Barkley an even greater shot at running all over the Rams. The Eagles' offensive line is elite and should be able to create holes that allow Barkley to earn yards in big chunks. Betting over 19.5 for Barkley's longest rush is also a viable option.
Jalen Hurts - Under 25.5 passing attempts (-105)
The Eagles haven't needed Jalen Hurts to throw the ball all that often with Barkley doing so much damage on the ground. Hurts has attempted 25 or fewer passes in 10 of his last 12 games (including the week he got injured).
Even if the snow doesn't affect the passing game that much, there's a good chance Hurts doesn't attempt 25 passes. But if the snow rolls in, this bet should cash with ease.
James Cook - Over 13.5 rushing attempts (-105)
Wintry conditions are also expected in the divisional round's marquee matchup between the Ravens and Bills. It's supposed to be freezing cold in Buffalo, and there's always a chance snow could show up at any moment.
Expect the running backs to be heavily involved in the cold. Passing becomes more difficult when quarterbacks and receivers can barely feel their hands. That should leave more opportunities for James Cook, who's carried the ball 14-plus times in three of his last five games. Cook carried it 23 times in the Bills' blowout victory over the Broncos last week.
Even though the Ravens do a great job stopping the run, the Bills will still need to give it to Cook often to create space for Josh Allen through the air.
Derrick Henry - Over 19.5 rushing attempts (-115)
The same hypothesis for Cook applies to Derrick Henry. The Ravens' offense relies heavily on its rushing attack, and there's no better running back in the league to lean on in the cold than Henry. At nearly 250 pounds, there isn't a player in the league that wants to see Henry barreling down on them in the cold.
Henry's handled 20-plus carries in four straight contests. Games like the one on deck in Buffalo are exactly why the Ravens signed Henry in the offseason. It'd be foolish not to feed him with 20-plus carries in what should be a very physical game.
Lamar Jackson - Over 49.5 rushing yards (-140)
This rushing total simply feels low for Lamar Jackson. He's rushed for 60-plus yards in five of his last six contests and is averaging 86 rushing yards per game in seven career playoff contests. If the weather plays a factor in the passing game, expect plenty of designed runs for Jackson to keep the Bills' defense off-balanced.
Justice Hill - Over 3.5 receptions (+145)
Zay Flowers is listed as doubtful for Sunday's contest, creating more opportunities for other pass-catchers in the Ravens' offense to get involved.
Justice Hill should see an uptick in targets with Flowers out. While not a wide receiver, he does a lot of the same things Flowers does - catching short passes and trying to earn yardage in open space. Hill's caught four-plus passes in three of his past four games, acting as the perfect complement to Henry out of the backfield.
