Report: Browns owner refuses to meet with Garrett
Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam declined to meet with star Myles Garrett after the defensive end asked to speak with him, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Haslam told Garrett to talk with general manager Andrew Berry instead, as Berry is in charge of running the team, a source told Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
Garrett requested a trade from the organization Feb. 3. The Browns' leadership team is not engaging in trade dialogue and has no intention of moving the defensive end, and Garrett is prepared to miss games if he's not traded, Pelissero adds.
"We can't imagine a situation where not having Myles is best for the Browns," Berry said at the NFL combine.
Garrett has two years left on a five-year, $125-million deal signed in 2020. The 29-year-old has been open about playing for a Super Bowl-contending team and will do "whatever it takes" to be traded, per Cabot. The Philadelphia Eagles are among the teams interested in the defensive end, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and was runner-up for the award in 2024. He totalled 14 sacks and 47 tackles in 17 games this previous campaign.
The Browns finished 3-14 in 2024 and haven't made the conference championship in the 21st century. The team holds the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
