Report: Chiefs re-sign Hunt to 1-year deal
The Kansas City Chiefs are re-signing running back Kareem Hunt to a one-year, $1.5-million deal, sources told Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz.
Hunt's new contract can reportedly reach up to $2.5 million with incentives.
The 29-year-old tailback served as Kansas City's starter after Isiah Pacheco suffered an injury in a Sept. 15 game. Hunt ran for 728 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 contests (eight starts) last season, averaging 56 rushing yards per game.
Hunt rejoined the Chiefs last season for his second stint with the franchise after the club drafted him in the third round in 2017. He played two seasons (2017-2018) with Kansas City before spending five campaigns with the Cleveland Browns (2019-23).
The Toledo product has recorded 2,879 rushing yards, 22 TDs, and 4.4 yards per carry across his Kansas City tenures.
The Chiefs bolstered their backfield this offseason by signing Elijah Mitchell to a one-year, $1.5-million pact earlier this week. Carson Steele and Keaontay Ingram fill out the Chiefs' depth chart at halfback.
