Report: Bills' Oliver likely out multiple weeks with ankle injury
Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver is dealing with an ankle injury that will likely sideline him multiple weeks, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Oliver has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. The Bills have a short turnaround as they'll face the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football in Week 3.
Head coach Sean McDermott said the defensive lineman injured the ankle during Wednesday's practice, according to ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. Oliver was spotted with a boot on his leg Thursday and hasn't participated in on-field work since suffering the injury.
Oliver had a monster performance against the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener, totaling six tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack while playing over 68% of the defensive snaps.
The 27-year-old signed a four-year, $68-million contract extension with the Bills in 2023. He has 73 quarterback hits and 28 sacks in 93 career contests.
T.J. Sanders, who was selected by Buffalo in the second round of the 2025 draft out of South Carolina, is set to get a boost in playing time with Oliver sidelined.
