Report: Burrow to undergo toe surgery, out at least 3 months
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to undergo toe surgery, which will sideline him for at least three months, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Burrow exited in the second quarter of the Bengals' 31-27 win Sunday over the Jacksonville Jaguars with a toe injury after getting sacked by Arik Armstead.
Burrow tried walking off the field under his own power, but he had a noticeable limp and fell to the ground after taking a couple of steps. After being evaluated in the Bengals' medical tent, he made his way back to the locker room with the assistance of team trainers.
Jake Browning led Cincinnati to a comeback win in Burrow's absence and could be elevated to the starting role. The club also has signal-caller Brett Rypien on the practice roster. However, the Bengals have reached out to free-agent quarterbacks to add depth to the position, per Schefter.
Burrow has endured several significant injuries since being the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. A knee injury ended his 2020 season, and a wrist injury cut his 2023 campaign short. He also fought through a calf issue at the start of 2023 that he sustained in training camp.
