Saints' Rattler benched for Shough in loss to Bucs
The New Orleans Saints benched quarterback Spencer Rattler for Tyler Shough in the third quarter of Sunday's 23-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rattler, who started the Saints' first seven games of the year, was sacked three times and threw a pick-6 before leaving the contest. New Orleans was trailing 17-3 when Shough came into the game, and the offense only totaled 87 yards with three turnovers in seven drives under Rattler.
Sough, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2025 draft out of Louisville. The 26-year-old only threw two passes this season before getting his first lengthy chance at running the offense.
He finished Sunday with 17 pass completions on 30 attempts for 128 yards and no touchdowns against one interception.
Rattler was 1-6 in seven starts this season, throwing for 1,450 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions heading into Week 8.
