Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won't play Sunday against the Chicago Bears due to a wrist injury, head coach Mike Tomlin told CBS Sports' Evan Washburn.

"He's not going to play today," Tomlin told Washburn. "He fought his tail off all week, but that's the prudent play to make for us as a collective."

Mason Rudolph, who filled in for the injured Rodgers last week, will get the start against the Bears with rookie Will Howard serving as the backup. The 30-year-old completed 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh's 34-12 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rodgers, 41, pushed to play against Chicago, but ultimately needs more time for the wrist injury to heal, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. He reportedly should be ready for the weekend's game versus the Buffalo Bills.

Rodgers has started every game this season, leading the Steelers to a 6-4 record while throwing for 1,969 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
