Seattle Seahawks running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III is unlikely to receive the franchise or transition tag, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The running back franchise tag is projected to be worth around $14.5 million, while the transition tag is expected to come in at about $11.7 million, per Over the Cap.

The Seahawks are prioritizing re-signing other key pending free agents and extending wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Schefter adds.

Barring an extension before the start of free agency, Walker would hit the market in the wake of his 135-yard rushing performance in Seattle's Super Bowl LX victory.

If Walker departs in free agency, the Seahawks would have 2023 second-round pick Zach Charbonnet as their top option in the backfield. Charbonnet, who split carries with Walker last season, rushed for 730 yards and 12 touchdowns on 184 carries in 2025. Meanwhile, Walker put up 1,027 yards and five touchdowns on 221 attempts.
