Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers vouched for Lamar Jackson to receive an extension one day after inking a fresh four-year, $140-million contract himself.
"I'd love for him to be my quarterback until I'm done playing," Flowers said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "No matter whether 12 years, 13 - it don't matter how long. I want him to be my quarterback because, to me, he's the best in the world."
Jackson has two years remaining on the five-year, $260-million contract he signed in 2023. As a result of the team restructuring his deal in May, Jackson's $34-million cap hit this season balloons to $84.3 million in 2027, according to Spotrac.
Upon signing his extension, Jackson became the highest-paid quarterback in the league in terms of average annual salary. Heading into the 2026 campaign, his average salary of $52 million ranks 11th, behind signal-callers such as Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, and Trevor Lawrence.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in January that there is a sense of urgency to sign Jackson to a new contract. However, both the team and the two-time MVP have declined to comment this summer on the current state of negotiations.
Jackson is coming off a disappointing year by his standards. He threw for 2,549 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while also totaling 349 yards on the ground, the fewest he's had in a season since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2018. Out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks in 2025, Jackson ranked 19th in EPA/dropback, according to TruMedia.
Flowers and Jackson have played together since Baltimore drafted the wideout 22nd overall in 2023. The pair is entering its first year under new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, whom the Ravens hired to replace Todd Monken after dismissing longtime head coach John Harbaugh in January.
"I feel like our games kind of match," Flowers said of playing with Jackson. "He can do everything - move around and run - and I can get open."
In 2025, Flowers enjoyed the best year of his career. The 25-year-old recorded 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns. His 2.53 yards per route run ranked fifth among all wideouts who played at least 11 games.
Baltimore will play its first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 15.
