Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson isn't just hoping to hoist the Lombardi Trophy this season - he wants to shatter records in the process.
"You've got 31 other teams coming to training camp saying, 'Our goal is to win the Super Bowl,'" Johnson told The Athletic's Dan Pompei. "I want more than that. I want to have the highest-scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored, and I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts."
He added: "The moon is the Super Bowl, but we're shooting beyond that, for the stars. And I want these players to feel that each and every single day they come in."
The 2013 Broncos averaged 37.9 points per game, though they failed to win the Super Bowl.
The Bears, in their first season under Johnson, averaged 25.9 points in 2025, good for ninth in the NFL. Johnson produced his best year as a play-caller in his final season as the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator in 2024, when the unit posted 33.2 points per contest.
Johnson and the Bears enter the 2026 campaign looking to build on last year's success after winning the team's first division title since 2018 and earning its first playoff victory since the 2010 season.
