San Francisco 49ers star edge rusher Nick Bosa will play in Thursday night's season-opening matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris confirmed Monday.
"He's going," Morris told reporters, including Nick Wagoner of ESPN. "We are not hiding that."
Bosa tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2025 season and has spent the offseason working toward a return. The 28-year-old, who dealt with knee tendinitis in his recovery, practiced in full capacity for the first time since the injury last week and said he "felt great" following the session, per Wagoner.
Bosa has been one of the most dangerous edge rushers in the league when healthy. He recorded a career-high 18.5 sacks in 2022, earning the Defensive Player of the Year award. He followed that up with 10.5 sacks in 2023 and nine sacks in 2024 before his injury-shortened 2025 campaign.
The five-time Pro Bowler may not be the only player making his return. Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald came out of retirement this offseason, but has not confirmed whether he'll play in Week 1.
