The one-game suspension given to San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was upheld by hearing officer James Thrash on Tuesday, according to NFL VP of football and international communications Michael Signora.
Greenlaw will miss the 49ers' game on Monday Night Football against the Washington Commanders. He will be eligible to return to the active roster Oct. 20.
Greenlaw received a one-game ban for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Niners' victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. He was ejected from the game after using his helmet to headbutt Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was wasn't wearing a helmet, after chasing down quarterback Sam Darnold out of bounds near Seattle's bench.
For the Arkansas product, this marks the second one-game suspension in as many seasons. Greenlaw was given a one-game ban for an unsportsmanlike conduct after he ran toward referee Brad Allen during a game and "verbally threatened him," according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.
Greenlaw was fined $12,000 last week for taunting the Broncos' sideline during the Niners' Week 4 matchup.
