Justin Jefferson said the Minnesota Vikings' offense has the potential to be a lot better, but the unit is running out of time to improve.
"We've got to figure out that answer and figure it out fast," Jefferson said of the offense's struggles, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
Despite leading the NFC North at 6-1, Minnesota is averaging only 20 points per game, 27th in the NFL. Jefferson declined to speak to media after Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.
"It was wanting to win," Jefferson said. "And I felt like we had plenty of opportunities to win that game and we only hurt ourselves in multiple ways. ...
"I feel like the potential and the guys that we have in that room is something very, very special. I feel like we're wasting that if (we're) not going out there executing the plays that we have called and just not living to that standard that we feel like we live up to every single day."
Jefferson insisted the team still has "faith" and "confidence" in quarterback Kyler Murray. But Murray won't be out there for Minnesota's next game. The veteran was ruled out for Monday night's matchup against the Buffalo Bills due to a hamstring injury, leaving Carson Wentz to command the offense.
Jefferson has totaled 335 receiving yards this season. His 55.8 yards per game would be a career-worst mark over an entire campaign.
