Hughes reportedly slipped and cut his hand in a fluke accident during a team dinner following the Devils' victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 12.
The 24-year-old has 10 goals and 10 assists over 17 games this campaign.
The two-time All-Star rejoins the 20-14-1 Devils on a two-game winning streak. The team currently occupies the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
