Ducks sign GM Verbeek to multi-year extension
The Anaheim Ducks signed general manager Pat Verbeek to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.
Verbeek has been Ducks GM since February 2022. Anaheim is third in the Pacific Division with 89 points and on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
"Pat has done exactly as we hoped, having turned the Ducks into what we believe are perennial contenders for the next decade," Anaheim owners Henry and Susan Samueli said in a statement. "We are beyond thrilled to see the team continue developing into what is already an exciting, winning team ready to take the next step."
Verbeek drafted Leo Carlsson and Beckett Sennecke, and he traded for Cutter Gauthier. In the past year, he's signed Jackson LaCombe, Lukas Dostal, and Mason McTavish to extensions. Verbeek made a splash on deadline day by acquiring veteran John Carlson from the Washington Capitals.
Anaheim also promoted Mike Stapleton to senior vice president and associate GM. Stapleton has been with the Ducks since 2014, serving as assistant GM since May 2024.
