The 2027 NHL All-Star Weekend will include a round robin, three-on-three tournament featuring international teams, the NHL and NHLPA announced Tuesday.
Canada, the United States, Sweden, Finland, and a World team comprised of players from nations outside the other four squads will compete in the tournament. Russian players will be allowed to participate.
A skills competition will also take place, featuring 10 players aged 25 or younger.
The New York Islanders will host the event Feb. 5-6.
Each international All-Star team will consist of nine skaters and two goaltenders. Fans will vote on eight players per squad from a 30-player list determined by the NHL/NHLPA. After the fan vote, the NHL/NHLPA will complete each roster by choosing a forward, defenseman, and goaltender.
Every team will play four five-minute games with no overtime or shootout in the event of a tie. The top two squads from the round robin advance to play in a 10-minute final, with the winning team claiming a $2-million prize.
The skills competition events include fastest skater, hardest shot, passing challenge, one-timers, stickhandling, and accuracy shooting. Each player will compete in four of the six events and earn points based on their placement.
The top four players advance to a shootout, facing one of four All-Star goaltenders. The top two then take on the obstacle course finale. The player with the highest cumulative score wins the skills competition and the $1-million prize.
The last NHL All-Star Weekend was held in 2024. The 4 Nations Face-Off replaced the event in 2025, and the 2026 All-Star Weekend was canceled due to the Olympics.
