The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Jakub Dobes to a three-year extension carrying an average annual value of $5.357 million, the team announced Thursday.

Dobes is under contract for $975,000 in 2026-27, so the extension begins in 2027-28. He was set to become a restricted free agent next offseason. The extension buys two unrestricted free-agency years.

The 25-year-old finished fourth in Calder Trophy voting this past season, going 29-10-4 with a .901 save percentage in 43 games. Dobes, who also posted a .908 save percentage in 19 playoff appearances, was a major reason why Montreal advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.

Dobes will enter next season as Montreal's unquestioned No. 1 goalie. Sam Montembeault and Jacob Fowler are among the Canadiens' other options in the crease.

The Canadiens drafted Dobes in the fifth round in 2020.
