The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Nick Paul from the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Dennis Hildeby, a 2027 fourth-round pick, and a 2028 third-round pick, the teams announced Wednesday.
Paul tallied seven goals and 15 points in 51 games last season. His average ice time dipped from 16:27 in 2024-25 to 13:41.
The 31-year-old is signed through 2028-29 at a $3.15-million cap hit.
Paul produced back-to-back 20-goal seasons in 2023-24 and 2024-25. He has 10 goals and 14 points in 45 career playoff games.
The Mississauga, Ontario, native has recorded 104 goals and 214 points in 537 career contests with the Ottawa Senators and Lightning.
Toronto has also added forwards Jack Roslovic, Colton Sissons, Teddy Blueger, and Brandon Duhaime, plus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, in free agency.
Hildeby posted a .914 save percentage in 20 NHL games and an .898 SV% in 23 AHL contests last season. He backed up Artur Akhtyamov as the Toronto Marlies won the AHL's Calder Cup.
The 24-year-old requires waivers in the fall. Hildeby is signed through 2027-28 at a cap hit of $841,667.
