The Calgary Flames are trying to move forward Connor Zary, reports TSN's Darren Dreger.

The Flames are asking for a second-round pick in return, adds Dreger.

Zary, who inked a new contract in September, is signed through 2027-28 at a $3.8-million cap hit. He'll become a restricted free agent at the expiration of his deal.

Last season, the 24-year-old recorded 12 goals and 25 points - the lowest totals of his three-year career - over 74 games. Zary averaged 14:22, which was down from his 16:02 the year prior.

Zary notched a career-high 14 goals and 34 points in 63 contests as a rookie in 2023-24.

The Saskatchewan native has played some center in the NHL, though he's won only 41.5% of his faceoffs on 516 career draws.

Calgary drafted Zary 24th overall in 2020.
