The Buffalo Sabres dealt defenseman Ryan Johnson to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defensemen Caleb Jones and Daniel Laatsch, both teams announced Monday.

Johnson owns seven assists across 47 games since debuting during the 2023-24 season. The 25-year-old was taken with the 31st pick in the 2019 draft by the Sabres.

Jones has 14 goals with 42 assists over 255 contests dating back to 2018-19. The 29-year-old has suited up for the Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, and Los Angeles Kings over his career. He's been playing with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season.

Laatsch, 24, has yet to play in the NHL. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 draft after playing four seasons at the University of Wisconsin.
