United States men's national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino said Christian Pulisic is "good" despite the forward only doing individual training drills Monday as he recovers from a calf issue.
Pulisic sustained the injury ahead of the USMNT's dominant 4-1 win over Paraguay in its World Cup opener last week. The AC Milan attacker, who played a part in two U.S. goals in the first 45 minutes of that contest, was substituted at halftime.
He worked on a field separate from the rest of his teammates during Monday's training session before doing work on a stationary bike, according to Jeff Carlisle of ESPN.
Pochettino gave reporters the one-word answer without elaborating when asked about the status of his star player Monday.
Pulisic himself downplayed the ailment immediately after the Paraguay match, saying his substitution was simply a "precaution."
"Christian will be ready, everyone. Let's relax," midfielder Tyler Adams said Monday.
"I think that he picked up a knock a few days before the game, and I think he got kicked in the same spot again during the game. And when you go in at halftime, things obviously get tight within the 15-, 20-minute break. But he'll be fine."
The Americans, sitting atop Group D after their electric opener, meet Australia on Friday in Seattle. The Aussies also won their first match of the competition, taking down Turkiye to move level on points with Pochettino's squad.
