The Los Angeles Dodgers have their star closer back.
The two-time defending champions activated Edwin Díaz from the injured list before Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners after a three-month absence.
Díaz, who shocked the baseball world when he joined L.A. on a three-year deal this past offseason, had surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow in April. He recorded four saves in his first seven appearances with the Dodgers but struggled to a 10.50 ERA and 4.95 FIP in six innings before the surgery.
The 32-year-old made seven minor-league rehab appearances across three levels over the last two weeks. He posted a 3.18 ERA with 11 strikeouts and just two walks during his rehab stint.
Díaz will boost a Dodgers bullpen that pitched very well in his absence. He'll push Tanner Scott - who's tallied 16 saves along with a 2.32 ERA, 55 strikeouts, and just six walks as the team's acting closer - into a setup role alongside Jack Dreyer, Alex Vesia, and Will Klein.
Left-hander Charlie Barnes was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
