Texas A&M is coming off its first College Football Playoff appearance, but head coach Mike Elko is making sure the Aggies stay driven using a simple motivational tool.
"I show them our trophy case, and it's empty," Elko said Wednesday, according to Carter Karels of On3.
Texas A&M stormed to an 11-2 record last season, earning the seventh seed in the CFP bracket. However, the Aggies were eliminated in the first round after losing 10-3 to Miami, the eventual national title runner-up.
Under Elko, Texas A&M has undergone a remarkable turnaround. The 48-year-old went 8-5 in his first season as the program's head coach in 2024 before winning 11 games last year. Despite the success, Elko insists that the team hasn't reached where it wants to be.
"No. You can't say we've arrived," Elko added. "We haven't won anything.”
The Aggies roll into the 2026 campaign with hopes of taking the next step. Marcel Reed will be entering his fourth season after throwing for 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 2025.
