Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz shut down speculation that he could replace Mike Norvell, who was fired by Florida State on Sunday.

"I'm not a candidate at Florida State," Drinkwitz said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Alex Scarborough. "I want to clear that up. Let's focus on the main thing, which is Texas, and eliminate all the distractions and clear the clutter from that standpoint for my team and for everybody out there."

Multiple media outlets mentioned Drinkwitz as one of the top candidates for the FSU vacancy after Norvell's dismissal.

However, Drinkwitz signed a new six-year contract worth $10.75 million per season less than a year ago. It'll run through the 2031 campaign.

The 43-year-old is in his seventh season at Missouri. He's guided the Tigers to a 52-31 record, which includes a 35-12 record in the last four seasons.

Drinkwitz took issue with the fact that he constantly gets mentioned on coaching candidate lists.

"It's recognition for the job that we've done," Drinkwitz said Monday on the "Brandon Walker College Football Show," per Scarborough. "But you've got to take it all with a grain of salt because at the end of the day, anyone can get on Twitter and throw out names. What they like to do is - in all honesty, what they're trying to do is take a shot at Mizzou. And that's the thing that bothers me the most. You're really just saying that you think that job is better than the job I currently have at Mizzou."

Missouri (6-2) will host Texas (6-2) on Saturday in a significant SEC showdown.
