Bills sign Benford to 4-year, $76M extension
The Buffalo Bills and cornerback Christian Benford have agreed to a four-year, $76-million extension, Benford's agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his contract. The new deal ties him to Buffalo through the 2029 season.
Benford just completed his third campaign with the Bills. The franchise drafted him in the sixth round in 2022.
He totaled a career-high 64 tackles in 2024 while tallying two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and a sack across 15 games. It was his second consecutive campaign as a starting corner for Buffalo, playing 95% of the team's defensive snaps.
Benford earned an 82.6 PFF grade last season, ranking fifth among all cornerbacks.
He was carted off the field in the first quarter of the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a concussion after suffering the same injury the week before against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bills have been busy locking up their homegrown talent this offseason. The team had previously extended quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, pass-rusher Greg Rousseau, and linebacker Terrel Bernard. Star running back James Cook is still waiting for a new deal entering his final season under contract.
Buffalo also brought back Dane Jackson after one campaign with the Carolina Panthers to pair with Benford and star slot corner Taron Johnson.
Meanwhile, cornerback Rasul Douglas remains a free agent after two seasons with the Bills.
