The New England Patriots took Memphis defensive back Kobee Minor with the 257th overall pick to conclude the 2025 NFL Draft, making him this year's "Mr. Irrelevant."

Minor is coming off a career year after posting 37 tackles, six pass breakups, and two sacks. He also played at Texas Tech and Indiana earlier in his college career.

It's the second straight year a defensive back is "Mr. Irrelevant," as the New York Jets took safety Jaylen Key at No. 257 last year. Key didn't play in 2024 and is currently on the Cincinnati Bengals.

A defensive player has been selected as the NFL's "Mr. Irrelevant" in each of the last three seasons. The most recent offensive playmaker to come off the board with the draft's final pick was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy in 2022.

Minor was the 11th player drafted by the Patriots in 2025. New England focused exclusively on upgrading Drake Maye's supporting cast in the earlier rounds, taking offensive tackle Will Campbell in the first round, running back TreVeyon Henderson in the second, and wide receiver Kyle Williams and center Jared Wilson in Round 3.
