Florida Panthers forward Eetu Luostarinen is considered week-to-week after sustaining burns in a barbecue accident, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters Wednesday, according to team reporter Jameson Olive.

Luostarinen didn't require an overnight hospital stay, and his return will depend on how he feels when his equipment is on, Maurice added, per Olive.

This marks the second unusual injury in the NHL in the past week. New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes underwent surgery Saturday after cutting his finger in a "freak accident" at a team dinner. He's expected to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Luostarinen has three goals and 10 points in 18 games this season. He was superb for the Panthers during their 2025 playoff run to a second straight Stanley Cup, racking up 19 points in 23 games.

The 27-year-old featured for Team Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and is a strong candidate to play for his nation at the Olympics.
