Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that the team could make a goalie change for Game 4 after Scott Wedgewood was pulled midway through the team's 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
"We'll have a decision to make, but there's a decision to make every night," Bednar said when asked who will start Monday, according to ESPN's Ryan S. Clark. "You know, some are easier than others. I thought Blackwood was good. ... So, yeah, we'll talk about it and make a decision."
Wedgewood allowed three goals on 12 shots and was replaced by Mackenzie Blackwood with just over four minutes remaining in the second period. Wedgewood has started every game for the Avalanche during the playoffs after posting a 31-6-6 record in the regular season while leading the league with a 2.02 GAA.
After a terrific start to the postseason, during which Wedgewood allowed only five goals during Colorado's four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Kings in the opening round, the veteran surrendered six goals in the team's Game 1 win over Minnesota.
The 33-year-old now owns an .860 save percentage in the first three games of the series.
Blackwood, 29, stopped 12 of 13 shots faced in relief Saturday, including eight saves in the final period. He started 36 games during the 2025-26 regular season, posting a 23-10 record and a 2.51 GAA.
"You never know (when a goalie could come in)," Blackwood said of replacing Wedgewood in Game 3. "I've seen games where they score on the first three shots of the game and then nothing the rest of the night.
"You never really know how it's going to go. You're just trying to be ready if you go, do the best you can, help your team and cheer on the other guy."
Game 4 of the series is set for Monday at 8 p.m. ET. Colorado leads the series 2-1.
