The Vegas Golden Knights re-signed defenseman Rasmus Andersson to a seven-year contract with an average annual value of $8.5 million, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Andersson was widely considered the top defenseman in unrestricted free agency.
Vegas acquired Andersson from the Calgary Flames at the 2026 trade deadline. He tallied 17 points in 33 regular-season games with the Golden Knights before adding six assists in 22 postseason appearances.
The 29-year-old right-shot defenseman primarily played alongside Noah Hanifin in Vegas. They previously played together with the Flames.
Andersson's $8.5-million cap hit makes him Vegas' second-highest paid defenseman behind Alex Pietrangelo, who's expected to land on long-term injured reserve for the second consecutive campaign.
