Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that the Aaron Rodgers situation won't affect the team's draft strategy.

However, general manager Omar Khan wants to add two quarterbacks to the roster before training camp.

"We discussed in Palm Beach a couple of weeks ago, we go to camp with four quarterbacks," Khan told reporters. "Right now, we have two on the roster. All options are on the table on how we acquire those last two. I assure you we'll have four when we get to Latrobe (for training camp)."

Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson are the only signal-callers on the depth chart. Pittsburgh hosted Rodgers at its facility in late March, but the veteran quarterback said last week he's in no rush to decide on his playing future.

The Steelers hold the 21st pick heading into Thursday's draft. They weren't planning to select a quarterback in the first round, but now they're getting ready in case Shedeur Sanders falls to them, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Sanders is projected to be the second signal-caller drafted. He threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns at Colorado last season. The 23-year-old visited the Steelers during the draft process.

"There's a toughness there that doesn't get talked about enough," Tomlin said of Sanders. "There's a competitive spirit there that doesn't get talked about enough. I know he's very talented, and he's made a lot of plays for his university and his team. But the intangible qualities displayed on tape were impressive to me."

The NFL draft kicks off April 24.
